Objects Of Childhood Wonder Oil On Canvas Painting

I plan to create a series of still life paintings around the theme of childhood wonder. When we are younger we enjoy the beauty of everyday objects, not because they are rare or expensive but simply because they are beautiful and interesting.

This painting's palette is dominated by blues that create a feeling of calm contentment and the small patches of oranges and yellows bring a splash of joy to the piece.

Compositionally I arranged the objects in a circle. In regards to colour, I chose predominately the complimentary colours of blue and orange. These two colours are opposites on the colour wheel and make the still life pop.

This painting was developed over 2 weeks and took over 20 hours. It was created using professional quality oil paints and has been varnished. The painting has been stretched over a thick, pine frame and is ready to hang.
