This painting started off as a demonstration for one of my oil painting classes. I painted the sky as part of the class to to show how I block in and then blend my colours. I then added the water later on in the studio.

This sunset painting is all about passion and intensity. The highly saturated reds, yellows and oranges almost jump off the canvas. Yellow, red and orange are all high arousal colours that are are often associated with passion, happiness and love.
